About Bente

I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1998. I hold a Master of Science degree in counseling/psychology from Dominican University in San Rafael, California.

I participated in the two-year Advanced Training Program at the Women's Therapy Center in El Cerrito. There I worked with couples and individuals with diverse backgrounds.

For several years I worked as a Counselor (and Registered Nurse) in Drug-and Rehabilitation Centers.

I have completed The Gottman Researched-Based Approach for Marital Therapy Level I & II and Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotional Focused Couple Therapy Externship 2020, and Individual Emotional Focused Therapy Level I, 2023.

I am a Certified Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist (GRIEF RECOVERY U.S. Trademark Reg. No. 2019818- Grief Recovery Method)

I volunteered with Hospice of the Bay, Marin for two and years. (until Covid lock-down)

I bring my wealth of life experience into my role as a therapist.

I was born and raised in Denmark. I have lived many more years in Marin County. I have been married and divorced and happily remarried. For many years I was a single mother of three children, and I am now a grateful grandmother of 8 grandchildren, and the owner of a cat and a puppy.

I love the opera, the outdoors, beautiful beaches, and lots of walks. (No longer able to run -marathons.)
